THE WEEKND Scores back to back No. 1 singles

The Weeknd is topping the charts and topping himself. His single “The Hills” rises to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, dethroning his own song “Can’t Feel My Face.”

The latter falls to No. 3 this week after three consecutive weeks at No. 1, while Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?” climbs into second place.

According to Billboard, this feat makes The Weeknd the first male artist to score back-to-back No. 1 singles since T.I. in 2008. Taylor Swift did it last year.

The XO crooner was understandably stoked. “THE HILLS HIT NUMBER 1 !!!!” he tweeted, adding, “WE STOLE THE NUMBER ONE SPOT FROM OURSELVES! XO DID THAT.”

Not only does he have the No. 1 single in the country, his album Beauty Behind the Madness remains No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for a third consecutive week. The album moved another 99,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Sept. 17.

BBTM is the first album to spend three weeks at No. 1 since Taylor Swift’s 1989, which held the top spot for 11 non-consecutive weeks late last year.

Meanwhile, his fellow Canadian Drake scores his first top 10 appearance on the Hot 100 in nearly two years, as “Hotline Bling” climbs 16-9.
