Apple Music caught our attention with an ad starring The Weeknd a few weeks ago. Now the streaming service has shared another star-studded commercial featuring leading ladies Mary J. Blige, Taraji P. Henson, and Kerry Washington, which premiered during last night’s Emmy Awards.
In the clip, directed by Ava DuVernay (Selma), Taraji and Kerry meet up at Mary’s crib for a girls’ day. While walking up to the door, they hear Mary playing Slick Rick. She then shows them how she created her playlist using Apple Music.
“So, it knows your mood, it knows your taste,” says the “Scandal” star, describing how Apple Music has made traditional mixtapes irrelevant. “It’s like you have a boyfriend that makes you a mixtape in your laptop!”
Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight” and Busta Rhymes’ “Touch It” come on and the women dance their hearts out before singing along to Puff Daddy’s “It’s All About the Benjamins.”
Watch the girls throw a playlist party.
