Davido has shared a video of the signing process for his new deal with Sony Music Entertainment.
The singer recently went public with news of a signed deal with Sony Music, with photos showing him put pen to paper on a deal.
Details of the deal were later released, with Sony Music Entertainment releasing a detailed press statement on the nature of the deal. Davido's deal leans towards music publishing, with the singer set to drop his sophomore studio album this year.
A new video published on Youtube captures the signing of the deal. Davido is seen on the streets of New York, where he makes his way to a bank. He withdraws money, purchases jewelry, and heads off to Sony Music offices, where he signs the deal.
“A couple years ago I was a kid, in Lekki, Lagos Nigeria,” Davido says in the clip. “Now I’m at the top of the building…”
After relocating to Nigeria from the United States aged 19, Davido set up HKN records alongside his brother and independently released the first song he ever recorded entitled, ‘Back When’.
His debut album, ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ was released in 2012 to critical acclaim earning him countless award nominations and accolades including two MTV Africa Music Awards and the 2014 BET Award for ‘Best African Act’. A world tour followed which saw Davido perform to sell-out venues across Africa, Paris, New York and London. Today, Davido enjoys a massive social media following with a combined number of over 6 million followers across all his platforms.
