Straight Outta Compton, NWA |
The #StraightOutta campaign went viral on the internet this weekend, but do you know what the original idea behind it was? It was the creation of a meme from the new film, Straight Outta Compton
The real deal with Straight Outta Compton can be traced to the late 80’s, when a groundbreaking new group revolutionised music and pop culture, changing and influencing hip-hop forever. The group named N.W.A (Niggas With Attitude), which comprised of Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy-E, DJ Yella and MC Ren, came together and dropped their first studio album,‘Straight Outta Compton’. The album stirred controversy with its no-holds barred depiction of what life was like in Southern Los Angeles.
On that note, the Straight Outta Compton film was based on the lives of the N.W.A during their reign in the music industry. The world movie premiere took place last night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and it had all the cast and crew in attendance, including Corey Hawkins as Dr. Dre, Jason Mitchel, Marlon Yates Jnr., Aldis Hodge, and O’Shea Jackson, Jr. as Ice Cube.
